Disability:IN and LinkedIn Honored as an Anthem Awards Finalist for Global Research on Disability and Career Mobility
ALEXANDRIA, VA- October 14, 2026 — Disability:IN announced today that Momentum at Work: Disability and Career Mobility, developed in collaboration with LinkedIn’s Economic Graph Research Institute, has been named a Finalist in the 6th Annual Anthem Awards. The project is one of the highest-scoring entries among more than 2,500 projects submitted from around the world.
Anthem Winners are selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. Judges for the 6th Annual Anthem Awards include an esteemed panel of leaders from organizations and companies dedicated to social impact, including Nancy Brown, CEO of the American Heart Association; Heather Malenshek, CMO of Land O’Lakes, Inc.; Jesse Tyler Ferguson, award-winning actor and LGBTQ+ advocate; Patrice Duckworth, Chief Inclusion Officer at Johnson & Johnson; Fatima Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center; Justina Nixon-Saintil, Vice President and Global Chief Impact Officer at IBM; and many others.
Patricia McLoughlin, General Manager of The Anthem Awards. “This year’s Finalists are truly setting the standard for how to advocate for a cause, inspire action, create impact, and overall make this world a better place.”
Momentum at Work is one of the largest global analyses of career mobility for professionals with disabilities. Using anonymized and aggregated LinkedIn data from nearly 10 million members who self-identify as having a disability across Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States, the research examines employment, career advancement, retention, and generational differences.
The findings reveal that professionals with disabilities are advancing in their careers, but often by changing employers. From 2023 to 2024, 9.3% of LinkedIn members with disabilities moved into higher-level positions, with advancement nearly four times as likely to happen by moving to a new company rather than advancing internally. The research gives business leaders actionable insight into how career development, retention, and disability-inclusive talent strategies can help organizations retain valuable talent and strengthen long-term workforce performance.
"This research underscores what we hear from companies every day: when internal career paths are not well-defined or accessible, employers lose exceptional talent,” said Jill Houghton, President & CEO of Disability:IN.“Retention is a bottom-line issue. When businesses design career pathways that support all employees, they reduce preventable turnover, strengthen their workforce, and gain a measurable competitive edge."
Alongside the Finalist announcement comes the launch of Anthem Community Voice in partnership with NationBuilder, an annual voting campaign and celebration that uplifts the work of Anthem Finalists. Supporters can vote for Disability:IN and Momentum at Work through Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT.
