Position Summary:

The Accounting Manager will perform all day-to-day accounting functions for the organization under the leadership of the Chief Financial Officer, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, and month-end close.  The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, efficient worker, and team player.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Record all bills in NetSuite.
  • Record ACH, wire, and check payments received against invoices and otherwise.
  • Record and reconcile credit card payments processed through Square, Stripe, and Swoogo.
  • Work with Finance & Operations Manager on collections efforts.
  • Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts and classes for proper coding.
  • Process posting of monthly journal entries.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable, accounts payable, deferred revenue, and bank and credit card accounts.
  • Analyze and reconcile discrepancies and accounting issues, as identified.
  • Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledgers for consistent bookkeeping and budgetary analysis.
  • Work with Director of People & Culture to ensure compliance with state payroll requirements.
  • Closely follow, and document financial processes adherence to, internal controls.
  • Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with auditors and tax preparers to timely provide requested information.
  • Assist CFO in preparation of annual budget.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies provided by technologies that leverage artificial intelligence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. CPA is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a nonprofit accounting role.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite Accounting Software and Revenue Recognition add-on strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and non-profit best practices, preferably within a non-profit organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work respectfully with a diverse group of people.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, confidence to question existing processes and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Experience coordinating audit activities.
  • A track record in grant management as it relates to compliance and reporting.
  • Ability to handle information confidentially.
  • Effective communication, both in oral and written forms.
  • Professional composure and the ability to perform in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel.
  • Experience working in Salesforce.
  • Experience and comfort using AI, professionally or personally.

Work Environment and Travel Requirements:

Our Programs

  • The Disability Equality Index (DEI), the leading independent, third-party resource for benchmarking corporate disability inclusion policies and programs, has grown S. participation from 80 companies in 2015 to 485 in 2023 and has launched in seven additional countries.
  • The CEO Letter on Disability Inclusion, designed to help CEOs build inclusive, accessible, and equitable workplaces through their company’s commitment to participate in the DEI, has grown to nearly 200 as of February 2024.
  • Working with New York State Comptroller Thomas P.   • Inclusion Works, customized disability inclusion consulting to help corporations create an inclusive culture and develop sustainable recruitment strategies. Participating companies have increased their hiring of individuals with disabilities from 339 in 2015 to 386,000 as of 2023.
  • NextGen Leaders, career coaching, mentoring, and recruiting opportunities for students and recent graduates with disabilities who apply and are accepted into the program. Since 2012, over 2,000 graduates have completed the program. This year’s class is over 400.
  • Supplier Diversity, certification of disability-owned business enterprises, including service-disabled and veteran disability-owned businesses, and links them to organizations seeking to diversify their supply chains. Position Summary:

Disability:IN is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Public Relations to join our team. The Manager of Public Relations will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategic communication initiatives to promote our mission, programs, and global impact. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, this role will be responsible for enhancing Disability:IN’s brand visibility, reputation, and engagement with key stakeholders through various communication channels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Communication Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive plans to effectively promote Disability:IN’s initiatives, events, and partnerships around the globe.
  • Media Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, and journalists to secure press coverage and maximize visibility for the Disability:IN brand.
  • Press Opportunities: Identify and pursue opportunities for press coverage, interviews, and features that highlight the organization’s thought leadership and impact.
  • Speaking Engagements: Secure speaking opportunities for Disability:IN leadership and representatives at industry conferences, panels, and events to amplify our message and engage with key stakeholders.
  • Speaker Preparation: Brief and prepare talking points for Disability:IN spokespeople for all speaking engagements and interviews.
  • Content Creation: Create compelling content, including press releases, articles, and blog posts to engage diverse audiences.
  • Event Promotion: Coordinate communication efforts to promote the organization’s events, webinars, and initiatives to target audiences.
  • Brand Management: Work with the Director of Marketing & Communications to ensure consistency of messaging, tone, and branding across all public communication channels and speaking engagements to enhance Disability:IN’s brand reputation and recognition.
  • Crisis Communication: Collaborate on the development of effective crisis communication strategies and messaging to manage and mitigate potential reputational risks or issues.
  • Internal Communications: Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Communications to develop and execute internal communications initiatives and memos.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate cross-functionally with fellow marketing & communications team members, internal teams and external partners to identify communication opportunities, share best practices, and align messaging with organizational goals and priorities.

Work Schedule, Location, and Travel Requirements:

  • Disability:IN is a fully remote organization. All employees are expected to operate independently from their home offices daily.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 2-3 times per year.

This position has no supervisory duties.
